This is a straight forward project good for intermediate sewers who have some sewing experience.

DESCRIPTION:

The Stitchback Canyon 3 or "CNYN3" is our midsize pack designed specifically for use in canyoneering. The tapered, rounded bottom slips easily through tight spaces, and the clean, minimalist design reduces the chance of straps or pockets snagging on rocks. Two large haul handles on top of the pack and a low profile handle on the bottom of the pack make passing it over ledges or out of potholes easy.

The single compartment contains a sleeve for a foam frame sheet which also double as a hydration sleeve. An interior gear loop helps keeps carabiners organized. Grommets at the bottom of the pack allow for water drainage. The pack closes with a simple drawstring that includes a toggle for easily attaching a helmet to the outside of the pack. A top compression strap allows a wetsuit to be carried on top of the pack, and can be removed if not needed.

With a volume of approximately 31 liters, it is a good size for daylong adventures.

The pattern includes instructions for a sewn-in, 1-1/2" webbing belt, as well as a removable, narrow padded hipbelt which works well with harnesses. It also includes options for men's and women's specific shoulder straps, with instructions on how to customize the fit, and torso length. (Shoulder straps can be positioned up to 21" from the bottom of the pack.)
